Semrush Pricing: How Much Semrush Costs per Month, With Every Plan Compared

Semrush costs $139 a month on the SEO plan, $199 on Starter, $299 on Pro Plus and $549 on Advanced, with roughly 17 percent off if you pay for a year up front. The sticker price is only the first line of the bill: Semrush does not include a seat count on the pricing page, extra users start at $45 a month, and API access sits on the top tier with zero units attached to it.

How much does Semrush cost?

Semrush costs $139 to $549 a month. The current ladder is the SEO plan at $139, Starter at $199, Pro Plus at $299 and Advanced at $549. Paying annually brings those to $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month, an advertised saving of up to 17 percent. There is a 7 day free trial and no permanent free plan beyond a limited free account capped at 10 reports a day.

If you are working from an older comparison article, check the plan names before you budget. The tiers most of the internet still quotes, Pro, Guru and Business, are retired. Semrush now sells SEO, Starter, Pro Plus and Advanced, and the mapping is not one to one: the old Pro price sat near the new SEO plan, but Starter at $199 is the first tier that carries the AI prompt tracking and MCP access most 2026 buyers are actually shopping for. Quoting a retired tier is the single most common mistake in Semrush pricing roundups, and it will make your budget wrong in both directions.

The second thing to look at is the row nobody puts in a comparison table: what the plan costs once your team is on it. Semrush publishes no seats-included figure on the pricing page. What it does publish is the add-on price, and additional users for the SEO Toolkit start at $45 a month each, while additional users for the Social, Local or Content toolkits are a flat $20. Traffic and Market users are a different product line again and start at $289 a month. Three people on Pro Plus is not $299, it is $299 plus two seats.

Finally, price the AI row if AI visibility is why you are buying in 2026. The $139 SEO plan does not track AI prompts. Starter tracks 50 a day across one domain, Pro Plus 100 and Advanced 200. That is a real ladder rather than a token allowance, and it is the clearest reason to skip the entry tier if answer engines matter to you.

Semrush plans compared: price, sites, keywords and AI prompts (August 2026)

Read the AI prompts column and the websites column before the price column. Those two decide whether a tier survives contact with a real roster of clients or brands. Annual figures are the per month equivalent when you pay for a year up front.

Plan Per month Annual, per month Websites Keywords tracked daily AI prompts tracked daily
SEO $139 $117.33 5 500 Not included
Starter $199 $165.17 5 500 50, on 1 domain, plus 300 AI visibility reports a day
Pro Plus $299 $248.17 15 1,500 100
Advanced $549 $455.67 40 5,000 200

Read from semrush.com/pricing on 30 August 2026. Semrush does not state a seats-included number per tier on the pricing page, so this table does not guess one; additional SEO Toolkit users start at $45 a month. Add-ons priced separately at the same date: Base Report $10 a month, Pro Report $20 a month, Lead Generation $90 a month. Standard API access is an Advanced plan feature and ships with zero units, which are bought as a separate package.

What actually moves your Semrush bill

Five variables explain nearly every gap between the price you were quoted and the invoice you get.

Seats are an add-on, and the page does not tell you how many you get

This is the number that breaks budgets. Semrush prices additional SEO Toolkit users from $45 a month, and the pricing page carries no seats-included row at all. Model your team before you model the tier. Four people sharing Pro Plus is $299 plus three seats, not $299, and that gap is larger than the jump to the next plan in some configurations.

Retired tiers make old quotes useless

Pro, Guru and Business are gone. If a comparison page still lists those retired tiers with prices attached, it has not been checked since the repackaging and every conclusion built on it is stale. The live ladder is $139, $199, $299 and $549. Verify against semrush.com/pricing before you sign anything.

The AI prompt allowance starts at zero

The $139 SEO plan does not track AI prompts. If you are buying to see whether ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews mention your brand, the real entry price is $199 for 50 tracked prompts a day on a single domain. Multi-brand or multi-client tracking pushes you to Pro Plus at $299 or Advanced at $549.

API access costs $549 before it costs anything else

Standard API access sits on the top tier, and Semrush's own developer documentation is blunt about what happens next: after you upgrade, your unit balance is still zero. Units are a separate package with no published price. If the API is a hard requirement, treat it as a sales conversation with a $549 a month floor, not a checkbox.

Toolkits are separate products, not features

Social, Local and Content have their own user pricing at a flat $20 each, and Traffic and Market is a different line item starting at $289 a month per user. Buyers who assume one subscription covers every logo on the Semrush homepage are the ones surprised at renewal.

How to pick a Semrush plan without overbuying

Four checks, in this order. The price row comes last.

1

Count the humans who need a login

Not the people who will look at a screenshot once a quarter. The people who need their own account. Multiply by $45 a month and add it to every tier you are considering before you compare them, because the ranking changes once seats are in the math.

2

Decide whether AI prompt tracking is in scope

If yes, the $139 plan is out and your real starting price is $199. If you need more than one domain tracked, you are at $299. Answering this second saves you from the most common Semrush downgrade request.

3

Count websites and tracked keywords honestly

Five sites and 500 daily keywords covers a single brand comfortably. It does not cover an agency. Fifteen sites and 1,500 keywords on Pro Plus is the usual agency floor, and 40 sites with 5,000 keywords on Advanced is the roster tier.

4

Only then choose monthly or annual

Annual saves up to 17 percent, which is real money at $549 a month. It is also a year of commitment to a plan you may size wrong. Run monthly through the first quarter, watch which limit you actually hit, then commit.

Which Semrush plan fits which buyer

Solo consultant or in-house SEO of one

The SEO plan at $139 covers 5 websites and 500 daily keywords, which is more than most single-brand work needs. Go in knowing it does not track AI prompts. If a client asks whether they show up in ChatGPT, you are upgrading.

A brand that cares about AI visibility

Starter at $199 is your entry point, not $139. It brings 50 tracked prompts a day, 300 AI visibility reports a day and one domain of AI brand performance, plus MCP access if you want to wire Semrush data into your own AI workflows.

Small agency with a handful of clients

Pro Plus at $299 for 15 websites and 1,500 daily keywords, plus $45 a month for every strategist who needs a login. A three person team lands near $389 a month, which is the number to compare against alternatives, not $299.

Agency running a full roster

Advanced at $549 for 40 websites, 5,000 daily keywords and 200 tracked AI prompts. This is also the only tier that unlocks Standard API access, so if you are building client dashboards it is the floor rather than a luxury.

Anyone who needs the API

Budget $549 a month plus a separately purchased unit package with no public price. Semrush's developer docs still describe the requirement using the retired Business plan name, so expect to confirm the current mapping with sales rather than trusting a help article.

Teams whose real problem is publishing volume

If the research is already done and the articles still are not going live, no Semrush tier fixes that. Semrush tells you what to write. It does not write and publish it. That is a different purchase, and a much cheaper one.

Semrush and Rankable solve different halves of the problem

An honest split rather than a pitch. Semrush is a research and monitoring suite, and we do not compete with it on index size or rank tracking. Plenty of teams should own both. If you only have budget for one, this table should tell you which.

What you are buying Rankable Semrush
Entry price $49 a month, and the ladder runs $49 to $499 $139 a month, or $199 once AI prompt tracking matters
Users No per-seat charge Additional SEO Toolkit users start at $45 a month each

Rank tracking No. We do not ship a rank tracker and do not claim one Yes, 500 to 5,000 keywords tracked daily by tier
Backlink index No Yes

Best for Teams whose bottleneck is getting good pages published consistently Teams whose bottleneck is knowing what to target and tracking it

Semrush pricing questions people actually ask

How much does Semrush cost?

Semrush costs $139 a month for the SEO plan, $199 for Starter, $299 for Pro Plus and $549 for Advanced. Paying annually lowers those to $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month, an advertised saving of up to 17 percent. Additional users are an add-on starting at $45 a month.

How much is Semrush per month?

The cheapest Semrush plan is $139 a month billed monthly. Most buyers land higher: $199 is the first tier that tracks AI prompts, and agencies generally need $299 for 15 websites or $549 for 40. Add $45 a month for each extra person who needs their own login.

What Semrush plans are there in 2026?

Four: SEO at $139, Starter at $199, Pro Plus at $299 and Advanced at $549. The older Pro, Guru and Business tiers have been retired, so any article still quoting a Guru or Business price is out of date. Only Advanced includes Standard API access.

Why is Semrush so expensive?

Because you are paying for a crawled index and a daily-updated database, not software alone. Semrush refreshes rank tracking daily across up to 5,000 keywords, maintains a backlink index and now tracks AI prompts, and that infrastructure cost is fixed whether you run one report a month or five hundred. If you only need a slice of it, you are subsidizing the rest.

Does Semrush have a free trial?

Yes, Semrush offers a 7 day free trial. There is also a limited free account capped at 10 reports a day across the main tools, which is enough to evaluate the interface but not to run a project. There is no permanent free tier equivalent to a paid plan.

What is Semrush traffic cost?

Traffic cost is a Semrush metric, not a price you pay. It estimates what a site's organic traffic would cost to buy through Google Ads, by multiplying each ranking keyword's estimated traffic by its cost per click. A high traffic cost means the site ranks for commercially valuable terms. It has nothing to do with your subscription.

How much does the Semrush API cost?

Standard API access requires the top plan, which is $549 a month, and it arrives with zero API units. Semrush's own developer documentation states that after upgrading, your unit balance is still zero and you must buy a unit package separately. Semrush publishes no dollar price for those packages, so budget for a sales quote on top of the $549.

Did Semrush raise its prices?

Semrush repackaged its plans rather than simply raising a number. The old Pro, Guru and Business tiers were replaced by SEO, Starter, Pro Plus and Advanced, and features moved between them, most notably AI prompt tracking. Many buyers experienced this as an increase because the tier carrying their features now sits higher on the ladder.

How much is Semrush for a team of three?

Take the plan price and add two seats. On Pro Plus that is $299 plus two additional SEO Toolkit users starting at $45 each, so roughly $389 a month. Semrush does not publish a seats-included figure per tier, so confirm what your plan covers before you buy seats you already have.

What is a cheaper alternative to Semrush?

It depends which half you need. For research and backlinks, Ahrefs runs $129 to $449 across its main tiers and covers similar ground. If your bottleneck is producing and publishing pages rather than researching them, a content engine like Rankable starts at $49 a month and replaces a different line in the budget entirely.

Buying research, or buying published pages?

If you already know what to write and the articles still are not going live, another research seat will not change that. Rankable researches, writes and publishes on a schedule from $49 a month.
